The gotchas
The Payout Balance FAQ has a whole section titled 'Why is my payout not matching what I see in my creator dashboard?': 'The Total Estimated Revenue (USD) in your Channel Analytics is not the same value as what you are owed as payout. There are certain costs, taxes, and fees that are accounted for prior to you receiving income from a subscription.' Compounding it: revenue analytics update within 24 hours but 'your payout balance updates once a month on the 12th', and Earnings-page subscription data is shown in UTC while the rest of Channel Analytics uses your local time zone. Negative lines appear when subs are refunded, and Twitch 'may revoke Bits transactions that we determine were invalid'.
help.twitch.tv checked 2026-09-04MSA Sec 5.1: 'you are not eligible for payout of Program Fees unless and until you qualify as a Twitch Affiliate or Twitch Partner and the Payment Threshold is met. Prior to qualifying as a Twitch Affiliate or Twitch Partner, Program Fees reflected on your dashboard are only accessible to you via your Spendable Balance for use in making purchases on Twitch.' Affiliate Program FAQ on leaving: 'If your unpaid accruals haven't reached the payout threshold, no payout will be issued. That balance remains on your account. To receive a payout, you'll need to rejoin as a Twitch Affiliate or Partner.' Two years of no logged-in activity can send an above-threshold balance to escheatment.
legal.twitch.com checked 2026-09-04Payout Details FAQ: 'Local Bank Payout Method or eCheck (1-4 days)... This option allows you to have the payout converted from USD to your local currency for a fee. The exchange rate is the wholesale rate (similar to the exchange rate charged by an ATM).' And: 'If you choose to have your payout converted from USD to your local currency, a currency exchange fee of up to 2.5% of the transaction applies.' The eCheck line in the fee schedule is $3.75 for non-US creators (N/A for US), on top of the FX fee. Only eligible European creators taking EUR via Local Bank Transfer / SEPA Transfer can avoid the FX fee.

help.twitch.tv checked 2026-09-04Payout Details FAQ: 'Any changes to your contact and payment information made after the 8th of the month will not be reflected in the current month's payout. Redoing onboarding or changing your payout method will render you unpayable until the process is complete.' And: 'If you have made edits to your tax or payout information in the middle of the current cycle, between the 6th and the 15th of the month, it may cause delays and defer your payout to the next calendar month.' Other pages still give the older, looser advice to submit changes 'before the 10th of any given month'. Restarting onboarding sets your payout method to Hold Payouts until you finish every step again.
help.twitch.tv checked 2026-09-04Payout Details FAQ fee schedule: PayPal is '$0.50' for creators based in the US and '2.0% of transaction up to $20.00 + $0.25 USD' for creators not based in the US. On a $500 payout that is $10.25 rather than $0.50. The 2.5% currency exchange fee is charged separately and is not included in the fee schedule ('* Fee schedule does not include currency exchange fees, which are 2.50% of the transaction'). Affiliate Program FAQ on failed PayPal payouts: 'it is important both country information, real name and PayPal email account matches information provided to PayPal directly.'
